We all got in the van early on Saturday morning. We're getting out of town for a while, gonna go out and do some exploring: spend the night in new places, visit rivers and farms, pay our respects at the national monuments and walk down the boulevards.

I think I must've seen it all now, a vulture spread on a pole. I traveled miles with my music playing, watching the sun paint the road. I've been to beaches and mountains, I can sleep when I'm old. But for now I want to keep on riding and keep my head out the window.

We don't need to leave a message or tell them when we'll be back. Let them follow the dust on the highway until the rain comes and covers our tracks. When our stomachs start talking, we'll go out for a bite. Watch the colors of the late sun dropping and the stars poking holes in the sky.

When that gas light comes on and its time to go back we'll know that the road goes on forever and home is wherever you're at.
